Cardiff City did the best we could do today with a priceless win over plucky Doncaster Rovers, courtesy of a late Jason Koumas brace. Other results were OK for the Bluebirds but the key fixture was always going to be the Swansea City vs Norwich City clash in the evening fixture.
It's not often that Cardiff City fans hoe for a Swans win, but tonight it was a genuine scenario as both South Wales teams needed to chase down Norwich in pursuit of the 2nd automatic promotion place. If the Canaries won, they would open up a sizable lead and have the Premiership in their sight.
Whilst Swansea are our bitter rivals, and also rivals for promotion - a win for the Jacks helps Cardiff City's cause this evening - and so it was to be.
Swansea City sealed an impressive win over in-form Norwich meaning they are now level on points with the Bluebirds (bad news) but that Norwich City have been pegged back and are now just 1 point ahead of us with 6 games to play.
On-loan striker Fabio Borini netted a lovely free-kick effort, while midfielder Mark Gower doubled the lead with a sweetly struck 20 yard effort. Priskin got a bonus third on the break when Ruddy missed his interception in the last few seconds. Dorus De Vries was in top form throughout as he denied the Canaries on several occasions and while thwe Swans sealed a memorable and impressive victory - they weren't at their passing best.
Congratulations to Swansea City, and thanks. This result means the race for 2nd place is now wide open with Norwich City slight favourites but the two South Wales clubs are right behind - and chasing hard.
