Cardiff City's crocked striker Michael Chopra will be forced to watch in frustration as his team-mates face the 8-game mini-season that will define our season.
Chopra revealed he was devastated after his season was ended against Barnsley and promotion is now completely our of his hands. The former Newcastle United man had netted in three consecutive games during February, and was looking sharp and showing a healthy appetite and work-rate despite the Bluebirds' inconsistent form.
It was just a couple of short weeks ago that Chopra called upon Cardiff City to avoid any more slip-ups and notch 8 victories from the final 10 games.
Unfortunately, that demand did not get off to a good start and despite leading with minutes to go against Barnsley, and then at Millwall - we allowed two late goals to deny us, meaning the Bluebirds picked up just 2 points when 6 were there for the taking.
With 2 of the 10 remaining games Chopra cited now gone, Cardiff City are still searching for all eight of the wins he demanded. So with just eight games to go, we need to win them all !
We have the squad, the fixtures could be a great deal more difficult - but we are lacking form, momentum and confidence. All that could be rectified by a good win over Derby County on Saturday, and that must be the absolute priority for the Bluebirds. It's unlikely we'll win all eight, but realistically - the Derby clash is critical and nothing less than 3 points will do....
Massive. Cardiff City vs Derby County, 2nd April 2011 - kick-off 3pm.
