JLloyd Samuel The Answer For Cardiff City ?

Cardiff City yesterday completed the emergency loan signing of Trinidad & Tobago defender JLloyd Samuel until the end of the season.

Samuel had been out of favour at Bolton Wanderers and Dave Jones was keen to add a defender as cover for the injured Mark Hudson. Samuel is known as a left-back and is almost certain to be utilised in that more familiar role by the Bluebirds - though he will be desperately lacking in match sharpness.

The inclusion of former Aston Villa man Samuel at left-back would place further doubts over the future of Lee Naylor, who endured a painful first season at Cardiff with some decent performances mingled with some error-strewn shockers.

It seems likely that Dave Jones is again planning to utilise versatile defender Kevin McNaughton in the centre, as cover for Hudson allowing Samuel and Naylor to fight for the left-back slot and Quinn, Blake, Matthews on the right. Thats a big gamble, with McNaughton lacking height, presence and experience in the middle.

That said, McNaughton has been magnificent wherever he's played for the Bluebirds and has again enjoyed an excellent season.
