Cardiff City Move For Controversial Hitman King

Cardiff City have made contact with Coventry City about taking controversial striker Marlon King on loan after Michael Chopra was ruled out for the season.

According to the player's agent, initial contact has been made but no talks have been held with King. The Bluebirds only have today to add to the squad, before the emergency loan window shuts and were recently beaten to the signing of Fulham's Diomansy Kamara - who joined Leicester City.

A move for King will evoke strong emotions from Cardiff City fans, and is certain to0 be met with a mixed reaction. On the one hand, King is a proven striker who helped Watford get promoted, has a great eye for goal and causes real problems for defenders at this level. He has netted five in 7 games for the Sky Blues and is in great form.

Off-the-field, King's life has been far less successful. He has been in regular trouble both within and outside the footballing workld, and has been imprisoned on two occasions, recently for assault and actual bodily harm after punching a young woman.

Coventry City are facing a relegation battle as they strive to stay in the Championship. They would undoubtedly fare better with King available to them, but his substantial wages are a big burden and the Sky Blues are facing an uncertain financial future.
