Cardiff City striker Michael Chopra has revealed he thinks the Bluebirds need to secure eight more wins from the remaining 10 fixtures in order to achieve promotion. A tall ask, especially with QPR, Burnley and Millwall all sure to provide very stern tests.
Cardiff City have slipped up on a number of occasions this season, and have lost too many games for us to be considered favourites for promotion. That statistic is tempered somewhat by our impressive win record but while other teams pick up points in their poor performances, we are too easy to beat and have suffered accordingly.
Speaking to BBC Sport ahead of Sunday's clash with his former club Barnsley, Chopra said:
'I still think we need 7 or 8 wins really. I don`t think we can afford any more slip-ups. But we`ll just keep going until the end.'
Back-to-back defeats against Ipswich Town and Crystal Palace could have been far more detrimental to our hopes but for our rivals also struggling over the past week. Swansea, Norwich, Nottm Forest and QPR have all dropped points meaning we have not lost pace.
Several of the top clubs have yet to meet, a fact that suggests we will have more opportunities to climb the table in the coming weeks. Essentially, if we win our games - we will be OK, that starts on Sunday with the all important home clash with mid-table Barnsley.
