Cardiff Stunned By Ipswich Smash and Grab

Cardiff City were beaten by Ipswich Town in a game we always looked likely to win until a brace by Town midfielder Jimmy Bullard.

Bullard curl two impressive efforts past debutant keeper Stephen Bywater to hand his side an unlikely win but in truth, we should have been out of sight after dominating the first half.

Bothroyd, Bellamy and Chopra all had chances while Whittingham hit the bar and Keinan's headed goal was harshly adjudged offside. Town keeper Fulop was inspired and single handedly kept his side in it. That continued after the break as he denied Chopra again before his outstretched hand deflected Emmanuel-Thomas' effort onto the ground and over the bar!

Ipswich grew in confidence and clearly felt it wasn't to be our day either. Bullard capitalised on a Hudson/Keinan mess when neither dealt with a hopeful ball over the top, there seemed little danger but Bullard lashed home from 25 yards. The same man sealed the win late on with a free-kick, again from distance.

We were unlucky, but paid the price for our profligacy and simply failed to take chances. The second half we struggled, and again had no plan B but this game is best written off as a bad day - it does mean Tuesday's trip to Palace has huge importance.
