Cardiff City Braced For Chopra Blow

Cardiff City striker Michael Chopra was omitted from the team that lost 2-1 to Nottm Forest over the weekend after failing to recover from an ankle knock sustained during the 1-1 draw with Burnley.

Although initially hopeful he would not miss any further matches, Chopra is suffering from a hairline fracture in his ankle bone and is being subjected to a scan in order to determine the severity of the break.

Chopra provides a great deal of energy and balance to the team and while any side would miss the quality he provides, he is more important to Cardiff City fiven his work-rate, especially off-the-ball which provides the movement and creates spaces for other to exploit. Much of this work goes un-noticed, but Chopra is one of few players to contribute even without good service.

If the fracture is shown to be more serious, he could face a month on the sidelines and miss crucial games in the promotion race. We have Parkin, Emmanuel-Thomas and Bellamy able to partenr Bothroyd in attack but Chops would be missed. Hopefully the scan is a precaution and Chopra could yet be named amongst the substitutes for tomorrow's clash with in-form Leicester City.
