Cardiff City Boost As Forest Run Hits Abrupt End

Cardiff City were given a massive but unexpected boost last night as high flying Nottingham Forest were beaten by lowly Scunthorpe United.

We left it late to beat the Iron last week, courtesy of an 85th minute Olofinjana header. Those two points gained now look even more crucial after Scunthorpe showed the kind of grit and battle they will need to stay in the division.

Forest were the form side in the division and their relentless march up the table looked unstoppable. Last week saw them 1-0 down and down to 10 men in the first half at Loftus Road. However, the Reds dug deep to secure an unlikely point at the league leaders. A defeat to one of the relegation faced teams did not look likely.

Forest will now remain below Cardiff City until the two sides meet on the weekend. Their unbeaten run is over, but Forest are imperious at home and remain unbeaten at the City Ground. The Bluebirds will still need to be in top form to come away with anything.
