Bluebirds And Clarets Continue Purple Patches

Bluebirds And Clarets Continue Purple Patches

Cardiff City alloweed a sloppy late equaliser to thwart our run of wins but a point was deserved for Burnley after controlling the second half.

Cardiff were the better side in the first half, but there were few chances for either side. Burke's volley flew just wide but neither side looked particularly dangerous in the final third. On the stroke of half time, Bothroyd crossed for the un-marked Chopra to control and fire home. The lead was probably deserved but needed a brilliant diving header from Bothroyd to prevent a Burnley equaliser.

The second half was a turgid affair but in credit to burnley, they controlled possession and prevented the Bluebirds getting any foothald in the game. Some dubious official decisions saw the game stagnate somewhat but Burnley got the qualiser their play deserved courtesy of former Cardiff City striker Steve Thompson. Thommo flicked on a weak near post effort from a corner.

It was a poor goal to concede, but we faded badly in the second half. Substitutes Koumas, Blake and Bellamy were largely ineffective and had Burnley shown more ambition - they could well have taken all three points.

Both sides continue their recent unbeaten run, but with clashes against in-form Nottingham Forest and Leicester to come - City will be disappointed not to see the game out.
