Cardiff City Earn Deserved Win Over Scunthorpe

Cardiff City left it late to bag a deserved win over lowly Scunthorpe United but Seyi Olofinjana's 85th minute header earned a crucial three points.

Despite the claims of Iron boss Ian Baraclough and the misleading highlights of the Football League show, this was a very one sided affair which saw City control the game from start to finish but lack the final chance. We created many dangerous situations but were denied space and shooting chances by a packed Scunthorpe defence.

Bellamy was heavily involved on the left, but could only gain corners while Bothroyd twice firedfree-kicks over.

Ben Gordon had Scunthorpe's best chances as he broke quickly but fired across Heaton. Parkin's goal was (rightly) disallowed after Bothroyd strayed offside while Burke went close on two occasions.

The goal was a huge relief for Cardiff City and came through the unlikely contribution of Jason Koumas - who was bright after coming on. His deep swung cross found Bothroyd who headed across goal for SEYI OLOFINJANA to nod home from 5 yards.

A massive win for the Bluebirds and while Scunthorpe were spirited and committed - it was Cardiff City who deserved to win.
