Cardiff City Starlet Heads To Scotland On Loan

Cardiff City's promising young midfielder Aaron Wildig has joined Hamilton Academicals on loan until the end of the season.

Wildig is a central midfielder with good passing ability and creativity. He has rarely featured for the Bluebirds, but is highly rated and did feature during a spell last season with various other players sidelined through injury. He did well, and even bagged his first senior goal away at Newcastle United.

This season however, Wildig finds himself behind the likes of Olofinjana, Whittingham, Drinkwater, McPhail and Gavin Rae who are all fighting for central midfield positions. Wildig's chances of forcing his way in were always slim, though he impressed as a substitute during the 2-0 (aet) cup defeat to Stoke City earlier this month.

Wildig had looked too lightweight for Championship football but has bulked up considerably after working on his strength. He clearly needs games if he is to progress as a footballer, and the loan move to the SPL will allow him opportunities.
