Jewell Backing For Cardiff City Recruit Parkin

Former Wigan Athletic and Derby County manager Paul Jewell has given his opinion on Jon Parkin`s move from Preston North End to Cardiff City after the burly striker sealed a £100k transfer this week.

Jewell was speaking to Sky Sports anchor Jeff Stelling over the weekend and when asked his thought`s on Parkin, Jewell stated the Barnsley-born frontman was a 'technically very good`. Eyebrows were raised when Dave Jones moved for Parkin, with concerns over his weight, lack of pace and ability to contribute to a promotion chasing team. However, Jewell and his fellow panellists were of the opinion that Parkin is too often judged on his size, and offers more than just a 'big man` upfront.

Jewell also commented that when on form, Jon Parkin was 'unplayable`, citing a recent performance earlier this season when Parkin`s Preston overcame Leeds United in a scintillating 6-4 victory. In that game, Parkin was a constant menace and bagged an impressive hat-trick.

Bluebirds fans are currently split on his signing, a new poll on the right hand side of your page invites readers to give their thoughts on Parkin with votes so far split between those backing Parkin, or those unconvinced but willing to give him a chance. City fans will have to wait to see Parkin in action as he is currently suffering from an ankle injury - but he is expected to make his debut against Stoke City on the weekend.
