Bothroyd Slams 'Outrageous' Jones Claims

Cardiff CIty striker has hit out at rumours that Dave Jones' job may not be safe after a dismal run of form which has ssen the Bluebirds falter dramatically since early November.

Heavy defeats to Watford (4-1) and Bristol City (3-0) have underlined the dire form and given credence to persistent rumours of a lack of dressing room unity and/or Jones' position coming under further scrutiny after his assurances to our Malaysian owners that the current squad was good enough for promotion.

Following the Bristol City debacle, strong rumour circulated on the internet and in the media, that Jones was under severe pressure - a claim he regards as out-of-order.

Jay Bothroyd has added his voice to that of Jones, branding any thoughts of dismissing the former Everton centre-half as 'outrageous'. Instead, Bothroyd lays the blame for recent events solely at the feet of the Bluebirds players. An easier claim to make if you've missed the past few weeks with a hamstring injury!

Bothroyd was always likely to support his manager, but his outburst was unpromted and at least appears to suggest that the dressing room is still behind Jones. Bothroyd is rated doubtful for tomorrow's clash with Leeds United, but is very close to a return.
