Cardiff City manager Dave Jones is mulling over the inclusion of Chris Riggott for his long awaited debut when Coventry City visit CCS on Boxing Day.
The defensive area has proved a real weakness for the Bluebirds this season, with Mark Hudson alone showing deecnt form. Gabor Gyepes has bee poor and was publically blamed on more than one occasion for us conceding goals. Darcy Blake also has failed to re-create his excellent form of last season meaning Jones' hands have been somewhat tied.
Riggot has been devastated by injury problems over the past few years. When fit, he is a very capable and impressive defender but his captaure was always a risk. After months of rehabilitation and training, Riggot has been passed fit to play over the past few weeks. He has yet to make his Blubeirds bow but looks set to feature in the Boxing day match.
Whilst physically fit, Riggott is severely lack in match fitness, and with little to no reserve team action possible - he will be off the pace. That said, he needs to feature soon and would love to stake his claim prior to the January transfer window where Jones will be looking out for one if not two defendive options.
If selected, Riggott will have the difficult job of subduing a potent looking Coventry strikeforce including Jutkiewicz, Gary McSheffrey and Marlon King.
