Cardiff City Show Interest In Garry Kenneth

Cardiff City are known to be in the market for centre-halves come January following the departure of Anthony Gerrard on loan, followed-up by the dubious form of Gabor Gyepes and persistent doubts over Chris Riggott's fitness.

Glenn Loovens has been a long term target, but any move would be fraught with complications. Another is Motherwell's Mark Reynolds but after the Paul Quinn transfer debacle, the 'Well Chairman is likely to be unwilling to do a deal with the Bluebirds.

Another option Dave Jones is considering, yet again from Scotland is Dundee United defender Garry Kenneth. The Scotsman is a commanding centre-back and at 6 foot 4 has a clear height advantage over many opponents.

Kenneth has impressed in the SPL, and won a senior call-up back in August this year. He was the subject of prolonged interest from Ian Holloway and Blackpool, but the Seasiders were unable to seal a deal.

The 23 year old came through the ranks, and has a very strong association with Dundee United. However, he is also thought to be open to a move in order to further his career and could be tempted by a promotion-chasing season with the Bluebirds. However, one stumbling block is the transfer fee with a fee upwards of £1m demanded by Dundee United. At present, the club have not confirmed interest in any defenders except Glenn Loovens - however, Kenneth is thought to be one of the favourites on Dave Jones' radar.
