Arsenal Legend Pires Wants Bluebirds Switch

Cardiff Icty have been issued a 'come-and-get-me' pleas by the former Arsenal midfielder Robert Pires.

The Frenchman left former club Villareal over the summer and is yet to find a new club. Hi guile, flair and quality helped the Gunners to 2 Premier League titles, and several cup wins in his career, where he linked so effectively with compatriot Thierry Henry.

A variety of news sources has quoted the ex-Arsenal man as saying:

'I am open to all offers, and if there is an opportunity with a good team in the Championship that is pushing for promotion then why not?'

He has been training with Arsenal recently, and was linked with Crawley Town. However, former manager Arsene Wenger will not look to sign Pires on a permanent basis, citing his wealth of midfield talent.

Whilst undoubtedly a potent threat in his day, Pires is not the sort of player Cardiff City need. We have Bellamy, Koumas, Burke and Whittingham to provide creativity in midfield, and at 37 - Pires is well past his best. He offers experience, but we have plenty of young, hungry players vying for few places.

Thanks Robert, but no thanks.
