Deserved Call-Up For Cardiff City Winger

Cardiff City's lively winger Chris Burke has been handed a boost after being selected by Scotland manager Craig Levein for his 20-man squad to face the Faroe Islands next week. There are several new faces, in an experimental squad - but this shows he is in the minds of the Scotland set-up, and has a chance to impress.

Burkey made his Scotland debut back in 2006, and scored twice in a 5-1 romp over Bulgaria. However, he fell from favour after suffering with injuries and illness while at Rangers. He has been superb for Cardiff City since joined, but had yet to acheive International recognition.

Burke is a typical tricky winger, and his pace and skill on the ball is a major weapon for the Bluebirds. He has terrorised many a left-back and provides natural width, a good cross and the ability to cut inside to great effect.

Congratulations Burkey. Cardiff City fans may also want to vote on our new poll, on the right of your screen...

Nice poll - a fan of Burke by any chance ?!?
Bonesy
You guessed - I suppose I gave it away a bit .. but everyone who has seen Burkey is a fan - aren't they? I wish he'd shoot himself a bit more .. he and McLaughlin combining down the wing are I think are best attacking weapon and if they're both fit they should both be playing .. and from the start .. and talking of playing from the start, how can we expect Jason Koumas to ever again produce the brilliant form we remember from a few years ago if he only gets the last 15 / 20 minutes in a game?

Who's McLaughlin?! Does he play for Scotland? With Koumas, I dont think he deserves to start until he shows a bit more hunger and desire from the bench. He should be great when everyone else is tired, but he doesnt look interested

.. oops - my Burkey excitement carried me away and McNaughton was disguised as McLaughlin .. substituting Laugh for Naught is unforgivably inappropriate I agree .. I agree that Koumas doesn't exactly come bounding off the bench when eventually Dave Jones remembers him but I still say that since Dave is keen on understanding that players 'need time' on the pitch in a game before they show their best, it might suit us if Koumas was given more time than he's had .. I fear that telling Koumas to come charging on to the pitch panting with desire and enthusiasm is a bit like telling Dave Jones to try to be nice to the local jounalists who actually DO want to see the Bluebirds fly high!

Could gtsutton have meant journeyman Paul McLaughlin - who played for City in the mid-1980s?!? I never saw him play, but he's no match for Super Kev !
