Darcy Deserves A Chance

Cardiff City youngster Darcy Blake has been missing from the starting line-up of late after being sent off during the away win at Barnsley. We have been in good form since then, and he has failed to get his place back but with injury worries over the likes of Olofinjana, McNaughton etc tonight - Blake is one who certainly deserves to start.

He may well get a chance at centre-back - his favoured position. Media reports today are that Gyepes will not start, leaving Blake the only available option to partner Hudson. His form in that position last season, and his pace and good reading of the game suggest he can make up for his apparent lack of height.

Even if Gyepes plays, Blake may be a good option at right back. He deputised on Sunday after McNaughton was withdrawn and continued to keep the obvious threat of Scott Sinclair nullified. He made one excellent challenge on the Swans winger, and provided an excellent cross that Bellamy should have converted in the dying moments.

The versatile Blake could also feature in midfield, providing a steel and determination we sometimes lack with McPhail, Whittingham and co. present. With Drinkwater also off the pace, Blake's commitment and presence could be a huge bonus.

With the talent available to Cardiff City at the moment, there are relatively few chances for youngsters. However, Darcy Blake has been good when called upon, and deserves a chance to impress - he should get that chance tonight.
