Cardiff City winger Chris Burke has paid tribute to rivals QPR after their unbeaten start to the season, but warned the R`s that the Bluebirds are aiming to steal their perch after joining Rangers at the top of the Championship courtesy of a 4-0 victory over Leeds United.
A run of draws has seen Rangers surrender their lead at the summit, but they retain top spot courtesy of a measly goals against column which sees their goal difference better ours by seven. Scottish winger Burke has warned QPR that Cardiff City want to be leading the pack. He told the Western Mail:
"We are always chasing the top spot. QPR are still unbeaten in the league, so total credit to them for that. All we can do is keep knocking on the door. But we are aiming for top spot."
"As players we want to be in first place in the division. We are second now, but we want to be top."
In case you didn`t quite get the message - Burke wants to be top!
Burke has been in decent form so far this season, and remains a potent threat on the Bluebirds right flank. He benefits from the added space provided by the likes of Bothroyd, Chopra and Bellamy who can drag defenders out of position with ease. Burke`s driving run and low cross provided the third goal against Leeds and Burkey wioll be looking to contribute even more in the coming games. With Koumas, Keogh and McPhail all pushing to start games - he will need to continue impressing and creating goals for the team.
