Cardiff City face an anxious wait after Jay Bothroyd was reported to the FA over the dangerous tackle made on Becchio of Leeds United deuing the 4-0 mauling on Monday.
The matter has been referred to the Football Association of Wales, who will decide whether to impose a 3 match ban on the talismanic striker. It rmains utterly ridiculous that the Bluebirds and Swansea City are dealt with by a separate body to all other clubs in the Championship. However, we don't seem to be given preferential treatment, quite the opposite in fact.
Crucially, a 3-match ban would see the in-form forward miss the upcoming derby clash against Swansea City as well as games against Norwich City and Reading.
All credit to Luciano Becchio, who immediately got up and carried on without any complaints - a novelty in itself. It was undoubtedly a poor challenge, but there was little fuss at the time and the furore seems to have been created by Sky Sports over-coverage of the incident.
The Blubeirds will also feel aggreived that no action was taken against Doncaster Rovers' Wayne Thomas whose hideous challenge on Chopra was far more reckless and left the striker sidelined for almost 2 months.
It would be a huge blow to lose Bothroyd for three games, especially given our current run of good form and Bothroyd's key role in our season so far.
