Dave Jones Clarifies Bothroyd Injury

Cardiff City manager Dave Jones has clarified the situation regarding Jay Bothroyd's foot injury amid speculation he will not be fit to lead the Bluebirds line during the trip to face Leeds United.

Bothroyd suffered a nasty cut to his foot, which required an injection and heavy dressing at half-time in the 2-1 win over Coventry City. He managed to score the winning goal, but revealed after the game he had blood pouring through his socks.

Speaking to Real Radio, Jones suggested that Bothroyd was expected to be fit, but would have a precautionary scan today according to usual club procedure:

'He has a bruised foot and is having a scan today. Unless the scan shows something we haven't anticipated...' [he will be available].

'He's just having an x-ray to see if there's any other damage.'

Bothroyd is in fine form at the moment, and is scoring goals for fun. He remains the one player we lack adequate cover for, simply because there are few players around who can perform the varied role he does, with such skill.

Hopefully he will be fit and ready to lead the line against Leeds, where he will look to reach double figures before the end of October - impressive.
