McNaughton Praise For Cardiff City's Burke

Cardiff City defender Kevin McNaughton has paid tribute to his right sided colleague Chris Burke after the tricky winger endured a frustrating night at Coventry, only to pop up and creat the winning goal for Bothroyd with just minutes remaining.

Coventry left back Martin Cranie had an excellent game, marshalling the dangerous Burke to great effect and preventing the wideman from creating his usual havoc. However, despite his frustrations - Burke remained a willing runner and continued to plug away culminating in his excellent run, and precise low cross that allowed Jay to steer home the winner.

His Cardiff City and Scotland counterpart Kevin McNaughton has praised Burke for his work-rate and attitude, believing the duo enjoy their partnership. McNaughton told BBC Sport:

"You know what you're going to get with Burkey. He's always going to just keep attacking and I just try to back him up really and try to do his defensive duties for him."

"He just keeps going at players even if it's not coming off for him and he got his rewards in the end for creating the goal for Jay. So it's great having a guy like that with his work-rate in front of you. It does make my life a lot easier as well."

"We're both hard workers, we both share the workload and I think that's one thing that the supporters appreciate when you've got two guys working their socks off."

We are blessed with an abundance of talent on the right flank with McNaughton keeping the likes of Adam Matthews and Paul Quinn out of the side. Burke`s creativity and flair is integral to our style, with his pace and natural width stretching opponents and creating space and chances for others. Andy Keogh, Jason Koumas, Peter Whittingham, Adam Matthews and even Michael Chopra could be employed in that role - but there`s no doubting that Burke remains our most natural winger and is an influential player for the Bluebirds.
