Injury Blow For Cardiff City Midfielder McPhail

Cardiff City midfielder Stephen McPhail has picked up a knee injury and looks likely to face a week on the sidelines. Howeverr, the problem is not thought to be too serious and will be fully assessed over the next two days.

McPhail was withdrawn during the 3-2 win over Bristol City, after which Peter Whittingham moved inside and looked comfortable. He could continue in that role as the Bluebirds look to continue the good form with another win at Coventry tomorrow.

McPhail joins fellow central midfielder Danny Drinkwater on the sidelines, but fortunately for the Bluebirds - we now look strong in that area. Seyi Olofinjana has been a revelation, and his stregth and presence allows the inclusion of Peter Whittingham, or even Jason Koumas - both are often considered too lightweight for a central role.

Additionally, City can call on the likes of: Darcy Blake, Gavin Rae, Solomon Taiwo and Aaron Wildig.

Drinkwater and McPhail are both hopeful of returning to action soon, providing Dave Jones with a number of welcome selection dilemmas.
