Barnsley One To Watch: Adam Hammill

Cardiff City face a difficult trip to Barnsley this weekend, with the Tykes strong at home and looking to build on a decent start to the campaign.

Barnsley are now experienced at Championship level and have assembled an effective squad on a limited budget.Mark Robins has continued to build on Simon Davey's foundations and Barnsley lie comfortably in mid table.

Amongst the Tykes squad are a number of dangerous players. Striker Garry O'Connor on loan from Birmingham City is a threat, while Jason Shackell and Stephen Foster are solid and dependable defenders at this level.

However, the man-to-watch for the Bluebirds on Saturday will be lively wideman Adam Hammill. The former Liverpool man is a flying winger and can be irresistible when on song. With Cardiff City full-back Lee Naylor looking shaky of late, and having been successfully targeted by Millwall - Hammill may well be licking his lips and lining up on the right wing for Barnsley.

Hammill has pace, trickery and can chip in with goals. He currently leads the scoring charts for the Tykes, with four goals so far this term.

Cardiff City's defenders have struggled to cope with pacy direct runners dribbling towards them. Hudson and Gyepes lack pace and are both painfully slow if turned, while Darcy Blake may keep his place after a decent showing against Palace. Lee Naylor is another worry after a disappointing last two outings.
