Cardiff City Star Bothroyd Set For 100th Game

Cardiff City are hopeful that Jay Bothroyd will be fit to spearhead the attack against Millwall after recovering from a recent calf injury in the 2-0 away defeat at Ipswich Town last week.

The talismanic frontman is a key figure in the Bluebirds attack and we are yet to find a way of altering our style and tactics effectively in his absence. As such, Bothroyd has become an indispensible member of the team, and his contributions to all areas of play have been crucial to our steady improvement in recent seasons.

If fit, Bothroyd will make his 100th appearance for the Bluebirds on Saturday and will be keen to continue his rich scoring form at the CCS. In fact, he has netted in every appearance at home so far, scoring 4 in 3 games.

He has 80 league starts plus another 4 substitute appearances. Another 15 cup starts puts him on 99 in his Cardiff City career, and whilst his goal tally of 31 is by no means poor, it belies the overall presence, class and creativity he brings to the team. The likes of Whittingham, Chopra, Burke and McCormack have all rightly praised the ex-Arsenal man for his contributions to their own goalscoring exploits.

Bothroyd is expected to start the game, leaving Jones the option of whetehr to utilise Andy Keogh on the left of a fluid 4-3-3 formation, or partner the Wolves loanee, with former Wolves striker Bothroyd in attack.

Here's hoping for a 'happy hundred' for Jay Bothroyd tomorrow.
