Cardiff City Beaten By Leicester Fightback

Cardiff City were beaten by Leicester City tonight with the Bluebirds understrength and outfought by the resurgent Foxes, led by the exciting Lloyd Dyer and Welshman Andy King.

Lee Naylor stole a first half lead for the Bluebirds with a fluke goal, his cross from 35 yards on the left touchline flew right into Leicester's goal - the Bluebirds grew in confidence but could not extend the lead despite some neat play.

After the break, Cardiff were second best and struggled to cope with Leicester in all areas. Richie Wellens provided two goals for King, one a header, another a chipped effort and it was a thoroughly deserved victory for Leicester. The second half was purely one way traffic.

This was a bridge too far for Cardiff, missing too many key players (Bellamy, Chopra, Bothroyd, Olofinjana, Drinkwater) - credit to Leicester City for an energetic performance.
