Bothroyd Is 'Best In Championship' -Statistically!

Cardiff City's in-form striker Jay Bothroyd has been nominated for the Championship player of the month for August, and has been given further recognition via the Actim statistical analysis of all npower Championship players.

The Actim index compiles statistics from every Championship game using real-time match analysis conducted by ex-professional footballers at each match and post-match video analysis.

The statistics are derived from all the action that takes place during a match including goals, corners, shots, fouls, offsides, passes, saves, tackles and clearances. Actim then compile a list of the top 100 performing players for that week with each score added to player stats from previous matches and forming an aggregate ranking of every single Championship player.

Currently Jay Bothroyd is rated at number 1 in the player rankings, his goals have clearly helped elevate him to this position but his all round contribution to the team is first class. Bothroyd holds up possession, is aerially dominant and brings others into play superbly. He helps out in defence, most notably defending the front post at corners whilst he has also added a ruthless edge in front of goal and leads the scoring charts.

Other Cardiff City players doing well in the rankings include: Chris Burke (8th), Michael Chopra (27th) and Gabor Gyepes (40th) whilst David Marshall is ranked the third best 'keeper.
