Cardiff City entertain Hull City this weekend with the Bluebirds possessing a number of quality players attracting admiring/jealous glances from our Championship rivals. However, the Tigers were in the Premiership last season and are hoping for a swift return, they also possess some quality players and will certainly be tough opposition.
One player capable of causing carnage in the Championship is midfielder Jimmy Bullard. Hull City gambled on the former Wigan Athleitc and Fulham man to save them from relegation, but the injury-ravaged maverick suffered more set-backs and his signing and lack of impact surely contributed to the financial problems suffered by the Tigers.
There had been speculation that Bullard, touted for a possible move to Celtic earlier this year, could win a recall to the Hull squad for the clash against Cardiff City. He had been looking for a move away from KC Stadium, but after the transfer window shut - it seemed he may yet play a part for Hull City.
However, it now weems impossible that Bullard will feature after again being overlooked by Tigers' boss Nigel Pearson, the former Leicester City manager is thought to be reluctant to play Bullard, and is not yet convinced by his hunger or desire. His manager's lack of faith was underlined this week when Bullard was left out of the reserves squad to face Gateshead.
Despite hints from the Huill City board, Bullard is highly unlikely to play without at least some gametime prior to his comeback. In fact, the midfield maestro has not played in almost 6 months and missed the Tigers' entire pre-season itinerary.
One man who can feature however, is Cardiff City defender Anthony Gerrard who has left the Bluebirds on loan for the season. He will be looking for a strong performance to prove Dave Jones wrong, and that he should have been in the Blubeirds XI.
