Cardiff City's McCormack In Leeds Talks

Cardiff City striker Ross McCormack could be set for a move to fellow Championship side Leeds United after a fee was agreed between the clubs for the Scotland International's services.

McCormack was a revelation after joining Cardiff City for a cut-price £100k from Motherwell. He scored over 20 goals in his first season, but has been largely overshadowed by Michael Chopra since the ex-Sunderland man returned, initially on loan.

McCormack has therefore been confined to a bench role, and has often operated in a wide midfield position when called upon by Dave Jones. His confidence and fitness have clearly suffered and McCormack looks a shadow of the pacy, tricky forward who caused so many problems at first.

The arrivals of Jason Koumas and Craig Bellamy appear to have pushed Ross further down the pecking order, and it seems clear Dave Jones does not see him as key to the first team plans.

Although a very useful back-up, it is fairer to allow Ross a real chance at first team football and we do have to reduce the wage bill before the transfer deadline.

A number of clubs have previously shown an interest with Hull City, Ipswich Town and Derby Copunty amongst them. Leeds United now appear in poll position, but talks have been ongoing with two further un-named clubs. The agreed fee is as yet undisclosed but is believed to be in the region of £600k - a bargain if Ross can refind his previous form.
