Cardiff City nerw boy Craig Bellamy will be unvelied as a Bluebird this afternoon after both CCFC and Manchester City confirmed the deal. Bellamy has given his thoughts on the move via an official statement released by Cardiff City FC:
'I'm thrilled to be coming back home to Cardiff and am excited at the prospect of wearing the shirt and playing for the club I've supported since I was a boy.
I'll be working hard with my new team-mates to bring success to the club and look forward to our next Championship game on Saturday. I'm sure that all 'City fans will play their part in driving us forward this year.
It has been my dream to play my part in taking my hometown club to the Premier League, which would be fantastic for the football club, the city of Cardiff and Wales.'
The deal represenents a massive coup for the Bluebirds and huge respect and thanks must go to those who made an impossibility a reality. Those people include Dave Jones, Gethin Jenkins, TG and Vincent Tan, and of course Craig Himself. There are few genuine hometown heroes these days, understandably so in the shortlived areer and agent driven business that football has become.
Aside from the obvious quality and determination Craig brings, we should see inflated crowds and interest at the CCS this season, hopefully some of the younger generation brought in by the Bellamy hype will be Bluebirds forever.
