Cardiff City Sign Bellamy - It's True!

Cardiff City have apparently succeeded in our audacious bid to bring Wales captain Craig Bellamy on loan to the CCS after striking a deal with Manchester City for a loan spell.

It has been Bellamy himself who has driven the deal, pulling out all the stops to make this move a reality after being left out of Man City's 25-man squad for the coming season. Everton, Celtic, Bolton, Wolfsburg, Sunderland, Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur all made attempts to lure Bellamy to them - but failed.

Wages were a stumbling block, and of course we could not find anywhere close to his reported £90k per week salary. However, Craig offered to waive image rights, and Manchester City opted to recover some wages (to the tune of £20k per week) - rather than let him rot in the reserves, or join a rival club in the Premiership.

A press conference has been called for this afternoon to confirm the deal, and Bellamy has already been training with his new team-mates.

Bellamy is only 31, and had a superb season last year. If he can stay fit, there's no telling what carnage he can cause in the Championship and will add significantly to a squad already tipped to challenge for promotion.

Welcome home Craig !!

Craig Bellamy is at the very least true to his word - several weeks ago he stated in an interview that if he had to leave ManCity that there was only one place he would go - Cardiff. So all the hysterical media hacks can do one. Good luck to Bellamy, will miss his 110% onfield performances, but ultimately he was a Mark Hughes loyalist who disrespected Mancini on several occasions. The writing was on the wall as soon as Hughes went really. I just hope that Bellamy's stay at Cardiff is not cut short by his attitude like it has at virtually every other club he has ever played fo.

Great singing - congratulations! However, he's not quite the Saint you gays say. Cracking player, who in my opinion would have been better served in going to Everton, Spurs or Fulham. However - Manchester City pay him £95,000 p/w and so... no other clubs around would have been able to match that in the PL, at least... (although Wolfsburg apprently offered more). Hence, keep the wages and live local with the family he says he's missed so much over the last five years. It was about his only true choice, since City blocked rival clubs....
