Cardiff City Sign Olofinjana From Hull City

Cardiff City have landed a top transfer target after agreeing terms with Nigerian midfielder Seyi Olofinjana - who has joined on a season-long loan from Hull City. He joins Jason Koumas and Danny Drinkwater on long term loans and offers a new option in midfield.

Bluebirds fans have long wanted a midfield enforcer to play alongside the less physical but creative McPhail. Over recent seasons, the balance has not been right with neither Ledley, Gavin Rae or Aaron Wildig offering much in the way of physical strength and ball winning mentality.

In Olofinjana, we have signed a naturally dominant and powerful presence to bolster our midfield. The former Wolves and Stoke City man stands at an imposing 6 foot 4 inches and has 51 caps for Nigeria.

He cost Hull City a fee of £3m, but made only 20 appearances for the Tigers - many from the substitutes bench. He was named on the bench for Hull City`s 2-0 win over Swansea city at the weekend, but was not used by manager Nigel Pearson. We have been in discussions with the player, and Hull City for some time and have finally managed to negotiate a reasonable deal where we pay a significant, but nowhere near the full amount of his ~£18k per week wages. Therefore, thanks Hull City for making up the rest - I`m sure the parachute payments will help!!

Welcome to Cardiff City Seyi Olofinjana.

I think he will do well for you; a strong presence in midfield but he has good and bad games farly evenly.
