Walters Move To Fund Ipswich Chopra Raid ?

Ipswich Town have been less than subtle in their interest in Cardiff City's talismanic striker Michael Chopra and the lure of re-uniting with former boss Roy Keane, coupled with Chopra's disillusionment with the lack of new signings, could mean he is tempted by a move to East Anglia.

However, thus far, Ipswich Town have been unable to come up with the cash to persuade the Bluebirds we should part with our prize asset. A bid of £4m, with the majority paid up-front, would be required for Cardiff City to allow Chopra to leave.

It is clear that Cardiff City must consider player sales in order to cope with the crippling debt we have accrued. However, that must be balanced since we have retained an excellent core of players and have a chance to do well again this season. If the sale of Chopra allows a replacement in, and alleviates some financial worries - it must, and will be, considered.

A renewed and improved Ipswich bid seems a huge step closer today with the news that prominant attacker Jon Walters appears to be on his way out of Portman Road with Premiership outfit Stoke City ready to splash out £3m for his signature.

That would surely pave the way for another bid for Chopra, a natural goalscorer and more than adequate replacement for the Ipswich Town skipper. A £3m boost would give Keane all the transfer market firepower he would need, and Chopra is known to be a top target.
