Bothroyd Passed Fit For Deportivo Clash

Cardiff City have received a boost with the news that key striker Jay Bothroyd has recovered from the arm injury that saw him ruled out of the pre-season defeat by Notts County.

As a rule, we struggle without our powerful yet cultured frontman and he underpins our style of play. With no experienced cover for the front three of Chopra, McCormack and Bothroyd - it's a welcome return to fitness for Jay.

The Bluebirds have been working in training on a different approach and formation, which would allow pacy but small strikers Chops and Rosco to operate in tandem, a partnership that has failed to reach its obvious potential whenever employed.

Bothroyd had missed much of the summer through a torn muscle sustained prior to the play-off final at Wembley. That injury saw him limp from the field and caused us as many problems as Blackpool did as Kelvin Etuhu made absolutely no impression.

With Warren Feeney and Josh Magennis both released, it's certainly good to have Bothroyd back and we look forward to seeing him back in action.
