Joe Ledley Signs For Celtic

Cardiff City fan Joe Ledley is now officially an ex-player after the midfielder finally signed a 4 year deal at Celtic. There was strong interest from the Premiership, with Stoke City, Fulham and Blackburn Rovers all making a move for him but Ledley will play in the SPL and Champions League next season.

Unfortunately, the move to a club outside the FA system means Cardiff City are not entitle to compensation for training Ledley from the age of 9. We would have been looking at a 6-figure sum if Stoke had won the race, now we get zero. There is a slim chance we can claim compo, and the club are looking into those options - but realistically we know we'll get nothing.

It will be a big blow to lose a player of Ledley's energy and ability. There are those who say Ledley has not been in top form for some time - but his contribution to the team was huge and we will miss him.

Best of luck Joe, thousands of Cardiff City fans will maintain an interest in your career.

Joe Ledley has been a great servant to the Bluebirds - his anguished reaction to our play-offs defeat showed how much he loves our club and how much he wanted to go up with us .. he's got a responsibility to himself and his family to make the very best of his footballing skills and we should all wish him the very best at Celtic while thanking him for all he's done for us .. go well, Joe!

I would like to thank joe for the effort and commitment he has shown at city he will be missed. i would however question his ambition.......celtic are yes a big club but the league in my opinion is much weaker than the championship..........he'll be playing in front of smaller crowds against weaker opponents than himself.........gotta question what he's to gain from going there apart from the lovely 25,000 a week........his agent must have been licking his lips over this move as he'd recieve a large agents signing feee cos they got joe on a free............good luck joe just hope you don't stifle your career as many have done at celtic
