Cardiff City FC have announced that the planned pre-season tour has been put 'on hold` rather than cancelled and that the postponement will allow better planning and greater benefits to be gained from the trip, now pencilled in for Summer 2011.
In a statement on the CCFC official site, Dave Jones said:
'After a great trip to Malaysia, we can see that the opportunities and benefits to the club would be much bigger if we have the tour next year. This summer we've decided to revert to our alternative plans.'
It therefore appears that Dave Jones was a major factor in the decision, having just returned from meeting with TG and Vincent Tan in Malaysia. That would appear to dispel rumour that financial constraints were to blame for the sudden change of plan, rumours further flamed by weak and ambiguous claims made by new Chief Executive Gethin Jenkins (see hereE)
However, the club have been shockingly dismissive of a number of fans who had booked flights to the Far East to coincide with the Bluebirds` visit. No statement has been made to address this issue, while fans attempts to contact the club have gone unheard. This is all the more worrying given the previous lack of clarity and respect for fans, who had been deliberately misled. That is not to say this is the case here, but is smack of poor planning and management - precisely what we`d hoped to eradicate from the hierarchy.
