Cardiff City FC officially agreed the proposed changes that see TG and his Malaysian consortium take over the day to day running of the club. Whilst no further obstacles were expected, this is nevertheless welcome and helps put remaining fears to bed. This deal will allow the immediate payment of the overdue tax-bill, which in turn will remove threats over our short term future and removal of a longstanding transfer embargo.
In a statement released on the CCFC official website, new Chairman Dato Chan Tien Ghee welcomed the deal and re-iterated his commitment to the Bluebirds and determination to take the club forward:
'The new board takes over at an important milestone in the history of the club, with the facilities, infrastructure, a dedicated backroom staff and a team that has a great opportunity and belief to challenge for promotion.'
'We are looking forward to working together, utilising the passion, belief and involvement of every existing and new supporter of Cardiff City to bring long term recognition and success on a local, national and international platform.'
Gethin Jenkins (newly appointed CEO), Doug Lee (Finance Director), Eugene Tan (son of Vincent) and former director Michael Isaacs will now form the board along with previous boardmembers Steve Borley and Alan Whitely with TG stepping up as Chairman.
A momentous occasion for Cardiff City fans and undoubtedly the beginning of a new era for the Bluebirds. Exciting and hopefully prosperous times lie ahead.
