Double Call-Up For Cardiff City Strikers

Cardiff City's Northern Irish pair of Warren Feeney and Josh Magennis have both been handed call-ups by manager Nigel Worthington as he looks to build for the future.

Northern Ireland have upcoming friendlies against Turkey and Chile and have called up the Bluebirds duo despite neither managing to play any significant role for the Bluebirds this season.

Feeney is a forgotten man with the Bluebirds and looks certain to leave this summer. He was farmed out for an unsuccessful loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday and despite some energetic cameos for the first XI, he will never break through at the club.

Magennis is a powerful, raw striker who has only appeared a handful of times for City. However he has shown potential, and was ruled out for several months with a broken leg, only to make a miraculour recovery. The N. Ireland call-up is reward and Magennis will surely learn from the experience.

Neither player is expected to be involved on Wednesday, although both may hope for a place amongst the substitutes. Jay Bothroyd is certain to start, with Kelvin Etuhu preferred cover for the number 9 position.
