Cardiff City captain Mark Hudson has promised the Bluebirds fans there will be no defensive mentality employed by the team when we face Leicester City in the away semi-final of the play-offs on Sunday. With the home leg to be played the following Wednesday, Cardiff City need to ensure we are still capable of winning the tie and will therefore be looking for a draw or better from the Walkers` Stadium.
However, Hudson firmly believes we won`t sit back and play for the draw and that his team-mates will look to play their natural free-flowing game and go for goals as usual. Only West Brom can better the 36 goals we`ve scored on the road this campaign and with a naturally attacking and creative midfield (Whittingham-Ledley-McPhail-Burke) we lack the players to effectively close down a game and play for a draw.
Nobody believes for one second that Dave Jones would stray from his favoured 4-4-2 system so Hudson`s comments are sensible and welcome. He told the SW Echo:
"We won`t be thinking of getting a draw up there and gambling on winning at our place. We will be thinking we can win both games."
"We have goals in us and are tight at the back. We are confident in our own ability but not over-confident."
"This is what the season is all about now and we will do everything we possibly can to get to that final. We`ll be raring to go and will leave nothing to chance."
Hudson is by no means certain of a starting place in the line-up having only recently returned from ankle surgery. He replaced the in-form Darcy Blake during the 3-2 win over Sheffield Wednesday before impressing during the 2-0 away defeat to Derby County with Blake rested. With only a game and a half under his belt since undergoing surgery in January, Hudson is lacking match fitness while youngster Darcy Blake has been a revelation. However, the Bluebirds captain will be fit and ready to answer his manager`s call if selected and help fir the Bluebirds into the Championship play-off final.
