Cardiff City Boss A Target For West Ham ?

Cardiff City manager Dave Jones is once again the subject of paper talk with speculation rife he is a possible candidate to succeed West Ham manager Gianfranco Zola if, as expected, there is a managerial change to accompany David Gold and Sullivan's takeover of the struggling Hammers.

Jones has been linked with various posts in the past including Celtic, West Brom etc who have looked for seasoned campaigners with experience of leading teams to promotion. Usually, these rumours come when Cardiff City are flying high as we are now and with our financial plight widely known, Jones' efforts in making us serious promotion contenders in difficult circumstances is sure to attract attention.

Jones is a level-headed guy and has performed admirably with the Bluebirds. He has had strained relationships with the press, supporters and even players like Steve Thompson, Darren Purse and Warren Feeney. He probably feels little genuine affection for the club, but has stuck with us despite financial and squad troubles while his own personal bugbear has now been sorted after the move to new training facilities.

With the likes of Alan Pardew and Steve McLaren also linked - it seems this is an unlikely rumour. Our prospective new owners are hoping to keep Jones in charge, initially at least but it seems likely we will hear a great deal more such rumours over the football 'silly season'.
