Cardiff City may have to face Swansea City on Saturday, not only with a patched up back four - but also without their most dangerous attacking outlet with Chris Burke a doubt for the South Wales derby.
Burkey has been in fine form, and many of the goals scored by Whittingham, Bothroyd and Chopra have occurred thanks to the natural width, pace and trickery of Scttish winger Burke - many people's frontrunner for player-of-the-season.
Burke played all 90 minutes of the 2-1 win over Leicester City. He was his usual dangerous self in the first half, but faded noticably after the break. Nevertheless, he kept on running and closed down effectively. Manager Dave Jones revealed afterwards:
'Chris Burke was a passenger with a tight hamstring so really we were down to only eight outfield players by the end, but I can't fault anyone and they are all shattered.'
If Burke is deemed unfit, City will bring in either McCormack or Etuhu. Either could play on the right, or the left wing with Peter Whittingham swapping to the position he operated for much of last season.
Hopefully, a days rest and light training will see the hamstring tightness abate and Burke will be fit to face the Swans. With Bothroyd returning after suspension, he'd also love to have the flying winger there to provide space and crosses.
