Huge Injury Blow For Cardiff City's Whittingham

Cardiff City have been rocked by another crushing injury blow with the news that key midfielder Peter Whittingham may miss the whole of March after tearing his groin muscle.

Whittingham has been a revelation this season after a disappointing campaign last year. He has re-discovered his confidence and added a remarkable goalscoring instinct to his game. He is currently the top scorer in the Championship with 19 goals and a virtual ever present in the CCFC starting line-up.

Normarily a left winger, Whitts had been operating in central midfield to cover lon-term injuries to McPhail and Ledley while fellow stand-ins Wildig and Rae have also struggled with knocks. The injury to Whittingham will now mean that Ross McCormack will be included on the left side of midfield with Kelvin Etuhu still being treated for ankle ligament damage.

This latest injury is another hammer blow to City and we scarcely have enough to name a full matchday squad. Exiled left-back Tony Capaldi or youngster Jonathan Meades could now come into contention.
