Cardiff City FC have issued a statement on the official website, and are once again going cap in hand to the supporters begging for them to 'support the board' and sign up for a season ticket next year.
The last round of such begging was the infamous 'season ticket scam' where the club promised all funds raised were to be for bringing new players into the club.
Around 10,000 fans signed up and committed for next year. This raised ~£2.5m but was immediately swallowed up by the clubs debts and was earmarked for staff wages and payment of a longstanding £2.7m debt to HMRC.
The club cite that a further 6000 fans are yet to sign-up and have urged them to do so in order to 'back the club'. It is no surprise that fans will be unlikely to take up this generous offer from a board which has lied, spun and coerced money from fans. This move smacks of desperation, and with administration a distinct possibility - we could be starting next season minus all our players, and minus 10 points facing a relegation battle with a team of free transfers!!!
The previous deal was to raise £3m to sign three new players and push on from our 4th place position in January. The carrot was that promotion was within reach, and you could get your money back....
....now, fans are asked to dig deep with the club in dire trouble, plummeting this season and with few able to see how we can reach the end of the season. Now, only a 50% rebate is offered - if fans didnt sign up before, they're damn sure not going to support the board after the past 2 months.
Naiveity, desperation or just sheer bloody cheek?!?
