Cardiff City EGM: Shareholders Back Ridsdale

Cardiff City FC called an extra-ordinary general meeting of the shareholders today to approve the sale of land, necessary to stave off the winding-up order brought by HMRC over unpaid tax bills. That motion was passed withour major incident, as expected.

Those present were treated to another well-prepared masterpiece from Peter Ridsdale in political spin - our self-proclaimed saviour who claimed we are 'self-sufficient' as a club. We have heard it all before, except that the apology, for the season ticket sale cock-up / scam which was withheld as he'd already apologised. We can hear his praises sung at every opportunity, but his apologies are a one-itme only event.

A later motion to call a vote of no confidence in Ridsdale was rebuked after being brought by prominent CCFC fans. AS expected, the majopr shareholders did not come forward and Steve Borley questioned the motives of the motion. In short the shareholders, including the major players (Hall, Whitley and Guy) appear behind Peter Ridsdale at this time - do they have another option?

Perhaps of more significance was that genuine Cardiff City fan Steve Borley led the defence of Ridsdale, his place on the board is less important in terms of share value than others, but he was seen as a representative of the fans, and genuine interest of the club. Ridsdale brushed off all other topics including transfer embargo, creditor payments and the winding-up order...all this having pledged to run the club 'trasnparently' in public, he won't divulge anything to the shareholders either!

Major investment is needed immediately, but no information has been forthcoming and the Bluebirds fans have been out of patience for some time.
