Cardiff City host West Bromwich Albion tonight in the battle of the 'crocked` with both squads having serious problems with absences. Doubtless, WBA are far better equipped to deal with such injury woes and have a much larger and deeper squad. However, we have retained the backbone to our side and acquitted ourselves well against Chelsea.
For the Bluebirds, Joe Ledley (hips) and Mark Hudson (ankle) have recently undergone surgery and will be out for some time. Likewise, powerful forward Josh Magennis as he waits for a broken fibula to heal. Stephen McPhail`s comeback was dashed after he suffered broken ribs in only his second game back following cancer treatment and a thigh strain. Fringe player Miguel Comminges is out with his own thigh strain.
On-loan Manchester City forward Kelvin Etuhu remains out with his ankle problems, meaning we are desperately short of cover if Jay Bothroyd is unfit. The striker played with painkilling injections in his ankle, and may be asked to do so again. Gavin Rae returned early from hamstring injury and suffered no serious reaction so is likely to be available to partner Aaron Wildig in midfield.
For West Brom, impressive defender Gonzalo Jara looks set to miss the rest of the season with a foot injury and joins Abdoulaye Meite (ankle) on the sidelines. Winger Andy Slory has an Achilles` problem and is rated doubtful.
Marek Cech (hamstring), Ishmael Miller (ankle), James Morrison (heel) and Jerome Thomas (suspended) are all missing for Albion as their own injuries mount up.
