Cardiff City Starlet Nominated For Award

Cardiff City's young full-back Adam Matthews has been nominated for the title of Championship 'Apprentice of the year' at the football league awards 2010, an award previously held by fellow right-back and ex-Bluebirds player Chris Gunter.

Matthews has burst onto the scene as a confident and energetic full-back and has put in some assured and impressive performances in his first season as a senior player. Despite his young age, Matthews has adapted to life in the first team far better than anyone could have hoped and appears a safer bet than summer recruit and former Motehrwell captain Paul Quinn.

With the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal having regularly watched his rogress, Matthews is intent on keeping his feet on the ground and getting more gametime for Cardiff City. He has shown tremendous potential, and looks set to be the next talented player to emerge from the CCFC Academy following the successes of Joe Ledley, Aaron Ramsey and Chris Gunter.

Congratulations to Adam Matthews.
