Hudson Blow For Cardiff City
Cardiff City captain Mark Hudson is the latest to be hit with an injury blow after it was revealed he has an ankle injury and will be out for several weeks.
The central defender has been a near ever present at the heart of the City defence. After a slow start, he had improved rapidly and formed a powerful partnership at the back with Anthony Gerrard.
Hudson now has an ankle problem that will require an operation meaning a prolonged spell on the sidelines. His absence will mean a well deserved chance for Hungarian Gabor Gyepes who has deputised in recent matches against Bristol City and looked strong.
However, although the Gyepes/Gerrard pairing remains a strong one, we have little in the way of cover and would be in real trouble should either centre-back pick up injury or suspension. Currently, full-back Kevin McNaughton may be a candidate to fill-in. He has performed exceptionally well in that position under severe pressure at times - but it's a big ask of the slight Scot who has also been struggling with injuries.
Miguel Comminges has operated in that role for the reserves, while youngster Darcy Blake claims it is also his favoured position. Irishman Darren Dennehy is a specialist centre-half but has never featured for the first team and is currently out on loan with Gillingham.
