Capaldi Desperate To Join Leeds United

Cardiff City defender Tony Capaldi is currently on loan with former rivals Leeds United, and is hoping to make the deal permanent come January to keep playing regular first team football and boost his chances of an International recall with Northern Ireland.

The left-back has been out of favour and struggling with injuries over the past two season for Cardiff City and it was something of a relief when a loan switch was agreed. Capaldi told BBC Radio Leeds:

'If I can sort a more permanent deal in January I can't wait to move up. We will sit down and talk about it. That's the idea - a loan with a view to a permanent deal. It's up to me to put some decent performances in.'

'I couldn't wait to get up here and everything's gone really well.'

This appears a good move for all parties, however, it`s also a welcome revelation as Capaldi is a relatively high earner at Cardiff City, especially given his status as essentially a back-up player. His willingness to leave signals a desire to play football, and that he will accept a pay-cut rather than pick up his wages for just training with the Bluebirds. As such, Cardiff City are unlikely to receive any transfer fee for Capaldi, though we will save somewhere close to £20k per month once he is fully off the wage bill.

How many games has he played for Leeds now? I make it three. Judged on his performances so far he'll be back at Cardiff before you can say "Publicity Pete!"
