Cardiff City's injury worries have abated of late thanks to the recent returns of full-back Kevin McNaughton and forward Kelvin Etuhu. Goalkeeper David Marshall has also provided a boost with the news that he is fit to resume despite being withdrawn at half-time in the Ipswich defeat.
Stephen McPhail (lymphoma) is definitely ruled out while Gabor Gypes (knee) and Miguel Comminges (hamstring) are both doubtful. Joe Ledley recently revealed he is struggling with a hip injury but he and Jay Bothroyd (knee) will play on despite their problems.
Dave Jones hinted at sweeping chages to his line-up so Riccy Scimeca, Solomon Taiwo, Ross McCormack, Anthony Gerrard and Kelvin Etuhu will be desperately hoping for a chance to start the match.
For Preston North End, defender Youl Mawene will miss out with a knee injury while midfielder Barry Nicholson suffered a broken leg early in the season and will not play intil well into 2010.
Liam Chilvers is still suffering from illness and is rated doubful so left-back Eddie Nolan may be called upon to continue in the centre.
Ross Wallace was withdrawn during thwe 1-1 draw with Blackpool after suffering a knock. He will have a late fitness test with former Cardiff City man Paul Parry on stand-by to replace him.
