Tony Capaldi Leaves Cardiff City To Join Leeds

Cardiff City full-back Tony Capaldi has joined Leeds United on loan until January, while the move is expected to be made permanent.

Capaldi was initially a key squad player after joining on a free transfer from Plymouth Argyle. However, he was considered a weak link in the Bluebirds defence and never convinced the Bluebirds fans. He eventually lost his place to Kevin McNaughton and has barely featured for the first team since.

A serious of injuries, most notably to his knee have hindered Capaldi's return and he has since found the likes of Mark Kennedy ahead of him. The emergence of Adam Matthews and arrival of Paul Quinn have also suggested that McNaughton may again be switched to the left.

Capaldi's last appearance for the Bluebirds was in the desperately disappointing derby defeat to Swansea City where the Northern Ireland International was deployed in an unfamiliar midfield role where he struggled and was eventually hauled off.

Capaldi was on a high wage for a squad player and his departure may free up valuable room on the wage list. If the move is made permanent, it will mean a pay cut for Capaldi but he has previously stated that first team football is his priority - that doesn't seem likely at Cardiff City.
